Auction of over 100 radio construction permits to take place in early 2027.
The Federal Communications Commission announced a plan to auction FM radio permits beginning in February 2027. The auction will include the listing of 132 construction permits, 100 of which were not previously on offer. The Office of Economics and Analytics’ Auctions Division has issued a Public Notice inviting the public to comment on various aspects of the auction, such as minimum bid amounts and timelines.
“We’re pleased to open the door to additional growth and innovation—and to deliver real value for taxpayers through a strong auction process. The FCC has a responsibility to ensure that spectrum is put to its highest and best use, and today’s action advances that mission,” said FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.
“I want to thank our outstanding Auctions Division and Media Bureau teams for their work on this auction,“ the chairman added. “It is because of their expertise and dedication that an auction like this can happen, even as both teams work to achieve other major Commission priorities, including the upcoming AWS-3 and Upper C-band auctions and the streamlining and modernization of outdated broadcast regulations.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Chairman Carr as he directs the expansion and modernization of public radio.
- For FCC officials as they plan Auction 114, that their efforts would provide a clean system for the purchase of the available FM radio stations.
